TAROT SPELLS
In reflection to magick, tarot cards can have a significant effect on our energy process in the said work. Not only does each card in the deck have personal meaning, but it has influences in the energy of the Universal Consciousness as well. The representation of each card, whether they be of high value or low value, can influence the magick into the intended direction of the said spell or ritual planned. They can be used to be main focal points in the spell, ritual, or other magickal practice if the intention and will is behind the process in check. The tarot itself, depending on the deck in question, is usually comprised of 22 Major Arcana Cards and 56 Minor Arcana Cards, which are a total of 78 cards altogether. There are an infinite amount of Tarot Decks out there and usually, people do not have a problem picking out their favorites. There are elements associated with the cards which usually number four: Earth, Water, Air, and Fire. Upon the cards having elements related to them on this degree, any card can be used to influence a certain aspect of each element.
The Major Arcana Cards: Fool, Magician, High Priestess, Empress, Emperor, Hierophant, Lovers, Chariot, Strength, Hermit, Wheel of Fortune, Justice, Hanged Man, Death, Temperance, Devil, Tower, Star, Moon, Sun, Judgement, and World.
The Minor Arcana Cards: Suits – Aces, Twos, Threes, Fours, Fives, Sixes, Sevens, Eights, Nines, and Tens. The Suit Cards are grouped into Fours because of the Elements they represent – Wands (Fire), Pentacles (earth), Swords (Air), Cups (water).
The Minor Arcana Cards (continued) Court Cards: Kings, Queens, Knights/Princes, and Pages/Princesses. These are also grouped into fours because each one represents an element as well. Each element for these cards is, in a sense, stronger than the lesser suit cards.
How are Tarot Cards are to be used in a setting for the various types of magick then?
For example, if one wanted to cast a spell for strength (and be specific on what the strength is for), they would use the Strength Card in the Major Arcana. To expand this element and energy, a person would include a suitable Earth Element Card, like the Ace of Swords, for awakening the mind for something new – my example would be for new challenges. You would assemble the proper colored candles (most likely brown because it is a representation of earth), and any other objects or symbols directed toward the intended goal.
Another example would be casting a spell for love: You would use the Lovers card of the Major Arcana and, in addition, string along the Ace of Cups in the same spell for connection. The Ace of Cups being a target for New Love and energy for New Love would be very beneficial. Using red candles would add a nice touch because red is the element of fire (passion) and also another color representation for love itself. Using blue or light blue for the element of water would tame it down, thus creating balance in a safe direction rather than in a hasty, or misleading direction.
There are many useful representations of the Tarot for magick, and if one takes the time to study and memorize what each card represents, the said individual would have no problem integrating them into their field of magick. Like I said, one can use anything for an intended purpose in magick, they just have to find the correlation of each and go with it. If you do use Tarot Cards in magick, it is a sure bet that the Tarot will amplify what your intent and will want to carry out. Keep in mind though, that in the field of magick, there comes much trial and error – this being said, write down in a journal what works for you. The journal will have what you need to complete your training and help you become better in your designated field of study. These same words will give you insight and wisdom to creating the perfect harmony on the journey for whatever path you are destined to travel down.
Tarot spells are similar to other spells. Basically, cards are selected from the deck which are significant to the spell in question.
For example, a love spell would more than likely include the Lovers card, perhaps the magician to show the power in a situation, maybe the wheel of fortune, to represent the topsy turvy world of love, etc.
You are limited only by your imagination and none of the spells are set in stone.
Spells are most effective when they are created by you, with your particular situation in mind.
There are basic steps that you can follow, but again, these are not necessarily set in stone.
Casting Instructions for ‘Tarot Spell’
Light the White candle in front of the deck and place your hands over the deck then say:
“Deck of Tarot, hear my need,
and understand that I should plead,
for future sight and knowledge of past,
come to me now and fast!”
Steps for spells:
You really should be familiar with the basic meanings of the tarot cards in order to choose the cards which have the most to do with your particular situation. There are several books which can help you to familiarize yourself with card meanings. You would probably choose anywhere from 3 to 7 cards. However many you think would be needed.
I assume you are reading this book, because you have realized that you have the ability, that you have been given the power to change certain situations in your life. A tarot spell, is then, a form of meditation. A way to concentrate on what it is you really want. You would be surprised to find the sort of things you come up with. They will work, because your attitudes will guide them, your thoughts will help you make the right decisions.
Most spells or meditations rely on rituals which make the meditation exercises more effective by helping to set the mood. The right mood can be set in many different ways. Do you want to gather beautiful things around you? Flowers, scented candles, a picture of a loved one? Or do you want to get down to basics? (A white sheet on a bare floor, perhaps one small candle, or no extra lighting at all) It really all depends on you and your own particular personality. You have made things happen before. Remember the times when you were a child and could believe in anything? Try to regain that faith. It is unfortunate that as we grow up, we begin to lose our child-like wonder and expectations. We can regain those things, the world has not changed that much, and you CAN make a bad situation better. You have only to believe. Believe that you can do it, that those around you can help, and above all, that there is someone, or some being looking out for you, but you must act.
STEPS
1. Find anywhere from 3-7 cards to represent what you’d like to accomplish.
2. Choose a time to work the spell when you won’t be interrupted, where you might meditate in peace.
3. If you’d like, choose some props to help in your meditations. These can be as simple or as ornate as you’d like them to be.
4. The best way to begin is by sorting through the cards you have chosen. Try to put them in order of importance, the first card being the least important one. Lay that card down and say out loud, something along the lines of..”I have chosen this card, the ace of swords because, for me, it has always represented power and accomplishment, and I want to accomplish many things.” (you would then proceed in this same manner).
Next, I have chosen the fool, because it represents a worry-free spirit and I know I must not worry about what I cannot change” Next, I choose the Lovers, because I know that there is someone for everyone out there and I want to find my “other half”.
“Finally, I choose, what is most important to me, the death card, because I need to put to an end, all the negative in my life and have a re-birth of ideas and feelings.”
5. Once you have finished meditating, you may close the spell by blowing out a candle, thinking quietly, doing a little dance, whatever you feel like doing to end it.
*NOTE, I recommend that you look through the cards and choose the cards that stand out in your mind, don’t analyze why you are choosing them until you get to the point in the spell where you are ready to declare your reasons. The very spontaneity of the situation may prove a pleasant and eye-opening experience.
Tarot is one of the more accessible oracles. It is a helpful tool for self-understanding, personal growth and problem-solving.
SPELL TO ENHANCE YOUR SEXUAL ATTRACTIVENESS
You will need the following three cards:
The Star- bestows sexual attractiveness.
The Magician-channels your sensuality into the opposite sex.
(and I will get to the Lovers down a little)
Remember you can use other things such-as: candles, incense, flowers to help you meditate on your spell. In this spell, a group of red candles would be helpful. Try to relax and feel your sensual-self ( yes you are sensual) Place the cards thinking about each of there meanings and how you want their powers to help/assist you. (remember the 4 elements and how they can make it so)
Now you have placed the other two cards now for the Lovers. You must really feel this card!!! Feel the beauty within you know how attractive you are!! Know that this spell will make all your dreams of having the opposite sex at your beck and call.
When you feel the powers around you working and you know what you want, chant this affirmation:
The Stars above are around me.
In these flames I feel the passion within me
The ones whom I desire, desire me.
The ones who I am attracted to, are attracted to me.
They can feel my magnetism, my power.
I am irresistible, so it is, and so it shall continue to be.
Sometimes when I do a spell I’ll have a crystal, a flower or some small thing that I carry with me to remind me of the spell. To help keep my inner-self true.
SPELL TO ATTRACT LUCK

First SIGNIFICATOR (choose a card that represents (court card) you):
THE STAR...represents good vibes; control over what you do not have control over
THE WHEEL OF FORTUNE…represents your want to control your luck.
This spell is a spell to charge a “good luck charm” most choose a coin to put the spell on put use whatever represents the kind of luck you are looking for (it could be a pen you are using to fill a job application out with).
Visualization is very important in most magic the will to empower your spells. After meditation this is the chant that I use….
I call the powers of good fortune
Fortune smiles upon me
With all the high and mystical powers through whom fortune shines fortune and luck are with me
All who are around me prosper
I become stronger and more lucky than ever before
SO SHALL IT BE….
SPELL TO ATTRACT LOVE
With this spell you use the above cards in the same order. The Star is for the unseen forces helping to bring your ideal lover. The Knight of Cups represents the ideal lover. The Lovers is used literally in this spell. Following Meditation of the ideal situation your love life and lover should repeat the following chant:
I call upon all good spirits
I call upon all good forces
I call upon the wide ruling powers
Make smooth the way, that my love may be brought to me.
Then light 13 red candles in a circle around the cards and recite the following affirmation:
I call for love and love comes to me guided by the light of my flame whether near or far my love is drawn to me. I give love I receive love Our love is as intense as the flames. Our love is lasting. As I desire, so I have love and so shall it be.
SPELL TO HELP YOU THROUGH CHANGE
This is a spell to help you through changes in your life.(I know it happens every day but some changes we need that little bit of help) First.. The Wheel of Fortune represents the cycles in your life you are going through. The Magician represents you adapting to the situation. The World represents your new life with the change.
Again you can use candles and other stuff if so green would be the best color for this which represents healing and adaptation. Again meditate visualize your situation turning out the way you want. And when you are done meditating recite the following:
The time has come for something newer, something better. The forces of change are here. With these cards and with this spell I ask the higher powers renewal. I summon the powers within me and the powers around me to help me face the world as it is. I ask the powers to help me make my own happiness. I call for improvement…I call for my new cycle to be a better cycle. I will have a new outlook a new and more positive me will be gained. These transformations are made and will continue. So it is and so shall it be.
