TEMPLE SPACE OF OUR OWN
The Wiccan Family Temple presently has been using or renting space from many companies since its inception. We would like to change that and rent, lease and eventually purchase our own Temple building, where we can create our own rules and in turn rent out to other Pagan groups on the days we are not utilizing it. Thereby, a Pagan space for all pagans to share.
Yes that could be considered an unreasonable dream considering many things… like to rent even simple spaces are becoming more and more difficult, expensive and with so many DO NOTS or NOT ALLOWED that is part and parcel of who and what we are as a Temple ran by Witches or Wiccans as you so choose to call yourself.
First we have peoples conceptions or misconceptions about us, then what is considered simply part of how we ‘worship’ or do rituals, you know utilizing oils, incense burning, libations like bread and wines, much of what is considered part of the ‘not allowed’ in many spaces. And since it is their spaces we are renting, despite the fact you are paying for the space, it is still their space therefore their rules, so you have to abide by it if you wish to use it.
So on we go… then there are dates and times that may or may not conflict with their holidays, like full moon falling on Dec. 25th, wow that is a conundrum already… so you see we have quite a dilemma.
Bottom line is we would love to acquire our own space just like any other organized group religious or not has been allowed or be able to. So a lot of us walk around with a bit of ‘space envy’ when we see a church as you walk by wishing you could have a small space just to call our own. Simply put we want our own home.
WFT’s is presently financed entirely by Tithes collected by the ‘Money Witch’ for each event. In the past from 2003 – 2012 majority of Donations were provided by Starr RavenHawk herself. In 2013 & 2014 Donations though continued sometimes by Starr, Luna Rojas has also provided some Donations as well. In 2015 both Arlene Fried and Christine Hinkelday, Jose NightCrafter provided additional donations as well when needed to help cover the costs of facilities, upkeep of supplies for our Temple, websites, supplies for the wide range of educational, counseling, networking, and other spiritual services that WFT provides.

Starting 2016, WFT will be providing a published Annual Report listing our accomplishments and detailing our finances dating back hopefully to 2003.
So dare we say a space here in New York City and then an acre or more upstate or PA. Is this impossible for a Pagan Group or Temple to do in New York, I mean every other Spiritual or Religious group seem able to accomplish this, why not us, after all are we not a group of magickally spiritual beings….
